In October 2023 Fidem created a new support community specifically aimed at men who are facing challenges with their mental health. 

Over recent years we have witnessed a pandemic of mental health issues, in both men and women. While female participants in our other projects receive psychological support as required, we have never focused on men’s needs. We felt it was high time that men were given their own safe space where they could come together to share their concerns, issues and challenges. 

There should be no stigma about mental health and yet too many of us find it impossibly hard to come forward and admit to needing help. We know that men are less likely than women to seek help for their mental health issues in the first place for fear of ridicule from their peers. This is why we created Isma Habib as a community run exclusively by men for men. 

Isma Habib is an independent, non-denominational, inclusive support community providing a practical solutions-based approach to managing mental health issues within a shared experience of resilience and hope. Isma Habib organises regular, free meetings in various locations around Malta and Gozo where men can meet in a safe space and talk to other men in strict confidence.
